24 Hours in Police Custody explores a wide range of crimes, from attempted murder and honour-based violence to burglary and brothel raids. Future episodes in this first run focus on the police’s efforts to target violent youth crime, drugs, child sex abuse and domestic violence.
- News spreads across the county about a suspected paedophile trying to lure children into a car. The police make a series of arrests but have they got the right man? In the public protection unit, DC Annie Fowler and DC Selena Humphreys have finally gathered enough evidence to move against a self-confessed paedophile who makes a frank and shocking confession after his arrest
- Detective Sergeant Emma James and Detective Constable Cathie Layton are tackling an outbreak of violent youth crime. They are forced to pull a 22-hour shift to catch a prolific offender accused of assault, but with the man in question claiming he is the victim, the story is not quite as straightforward as it first seems
- A young man accidentally drops a large quantity of drugs outside a petrol station –and is caught on CCTV. As hard-bitten Detective Constable Colin Knight and fresh-faced Police Constable Oly Tomlinson try to identify their suspect, a stark picture emerges about the dark world of young people caught up in a cycle of drug addiction and crime in Luton
