4Creative take The Jump celebs on dream-like Alpine flying adventure

Category: News Release

Channel 4 today reveals its brand new tongue in cheek marketing campaign promoting the return of epic celebrity winter sports show The Jump.

Poking fun at the all-star cast’s sense of self-belief the 50 second film launches on Channel 4 just before 7pm on Wednesday 18th January 2017 and features Spencer Matthews (Made in Chelsea), Jason Robinson OBE (England Rugby Captain), Vogue Williams (radio DJ and model), Louis Smith (Olympic gymnast), Lydia Bright (TOWIE) and Josie Gibson (reality TV star).

The trail sees the six celebs take to the sky in an apparent dream sequence, flying through a stunning Alpine vista, soaring higher and higher in a world of heightened, suspended reality which soon comes crashing down; all to the fitting sound of Westlife track Flying Without Wings. A cameo by actor Peter Serafinowicz sees him appear in owl form.

The campaign treats the show and its stars with a healthy dose of Channel 4 humour.

The celebrities were filmed on wires against a green screen with the backgrounds shot by a drone camera in the Alps.

Forty and twenty second versions of the trail will air across Channel 4’s portfolio and on ITV in the run up to the return of The Jump at 7.30pm on Saturday 5th February 2017.

In response to a brief from Channel 4 Marketing, the campaign was conceived and produced by Channel 4’s in-house creative agency 4Creative – directed by Molly Manners and produced by Fiona Wright.

James Walker, Head of Marketing, Channel 4 said: “The Jump is now a must watch winter show and we again wanted to drive excitement and anticipation for the fun we will be having with the celebs. What better way than getting Spencer Matthews to cuddle Jason Robinson whilst listening to Westlife.”

Dan Watts, Creative Director, 4Creative said: “This year our celebs have been trained by the best, to such a standard that they are able to complete tasks in The Jump with confidence. So much confidence in fact, that it’s gone to their head. We decided to poke a bit of fun at this new found self belief by showing them literally flying in an ethereal manner - to celebrate that moment of pride before an inevitable fall. We also wanted to use Flying without Wings because its Molly’s favourite song.”

This year’s series of The Jump is sponsored by Jeep Renegade. To find out more visit: http://www.jeep.co.uk/
