Alan Carr returns to hi-jack Channel 4's Comedy Gala ads

Category: News Release

Channel 4 and Open Mike have joined forces to bring viewers another ambitious ad break takeover around Channel 4’s Comedy Gala on Friday 7th June from 9pm.

Original hi-jacker Alan Carr will be disrupting multiple ads around the show with a series of comedy sketches. Viewers will see him pop up in specially recorded versions of returning ‘up for it’ brands’ ads including Specsavers, Renault, Jackpot Joy and Gocompare – where infamous opera singer Gio Compario gets in on the action. Joining this year’s comic disruption are Coors, Lynx, Skittles and Just Eat who are all on board for the first time.

This year Alan has a new hi-jack companion in X-Factor’s Rylan Clark. The pair find themselves on a rollercoaster ride in Specsavers’ spot and get more than they bargained for.

Elsewhere Alan comes under threat from the man who turns everything he touches to Skittles, body doubles for Jean-Claude Van Damme making snow angels for Coors and battles for the affection of an astronaut in Lynx’s spot.

The take-over was produced by Open Mike, edited by The Farm Group and managed by Channel 4 Sales, working with agency partners Carat, ZenithOptimedia, Manning Gottlieb OMD, Mindshare, MPG, and Maxus.

Rob Ramsey, Partnership Leader, Channel 4 said “It’s brilliant that we have been able to work with such a diverse cross-section of clients, agencies and brands on the hi-jack which positively enhances the viewers experience of this very special event the C4 Comedy Gala”

Ends.
