All 4 commissions 'Inside Jaguar: A Supercar is Reborn' series

All 4 has commissioned Jungle TV Ltd to produce Inside Jaguar: A Supercar is Reborn (w/t), a 8x10 series of short films which gains exclusive access to Jaguar, documenting key elements of the engineering challenge to resurrect one of the nine legendary XKSS super cars that were incinerated in 1957.

Presented by historic motor obsessive, Mark Evans, the series follows the story of the first XKSS resurrection. Each short film will focus on a key stage of the construction process as a small team of 21st Century automotive artisans and world-class engineers hand build one of the world's first supercars, from scratch. This is a true engineering adventure and a world first. Today they are amongst the most sought after cars in the world, the originals pricing at around £15 million apiece.

The films offer classic car enthusiasts a unique and exclusive opportunity to go behind the scenes at Jaguar’s new Classic Works and some of the private workshops supporting the project, for example the race engine manufacturer and the specialist paint shop. The series explores the meticulous manufacturing entailed in restoring a 1950s super car, nearly 60 years after it was engulfed in a factory fire. Specifically, master metalworkers will hand craft a stunning new body shell from sheet metal and a new race engine will be remanufactured from the crank up. The chassis frames will undergo bronze welding and the windscreen will be created in a giant pressure cooker. Automotive alchemy will create the super car’s chrome bling and a military grade, foam filled fuel tank is a surprising, F1-inspired finishing touch.

Inside Jaguar: A Supercar is Reborn (w/t 8x10) was commissioned by All 4’s Lizzy Keene and Channel 4’s Tom Porter, and is a Jungle TV Ltd Production. It is executive produced by Mark Evans.
