Brand spanking new comedy pilots announced

Channel 4’s Head of Comedy Phil Clarke has commissioned three new transmittable pilots for the New Year to add to the number of returning comedies.

Phil Clarke said: “The latest batch of pilots spring from a set of witty, clever, knowing scripts that reflect the complexity of modern life. Sit.com deals with family; and Catastrophe maintaining a relationship. They represent a strand of comedy that I would like to expand on the channel.”

Rob Delaney (America's most influential Twitter comedian) and Sharon Horgan (award-winning actress and star/co-writer of Pulling), will write and star in Catastrophe, a single camera comedy about an Irish woman and an American man who make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London. Filming first quarter 2014

Sit.com is a new single camera comedy pilot for Channel 4 written by David Baddiel. The internet has been well represented on film and TV - The Social Network, Black Mirror have had a big effect on how we view the worldwide web. But, perhaps, the real change the internet has made is in the infiltration of technology into people's lives on a microscopic, domestic, everyday level. Sit.com is a traditional family sitcom, but with a twist: it will show the way we live now - on the screen - on the screen.  David Baddiel will also direct the pilot. SIT.COM is an Avalon Production for Channel 4.The Commissioning Editor for C4 is Fiona McDermott.

Returning for 2014: The Midnight Beast, Friday Night Dinner, Derek, Cardinal Burns, The Mimic, Man Down, Toast Of London and Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy alongside a new run of 4Funnies and the online content initiative, Comedy Blaps. The Peter Kay special, Malachy’s Millions is also set to film and TX in 2014.
