C4 comedy announce two 4Funnies to series

Head of Comedy Phil Clarke said: “I am delighted to announce two new comedy series commissions. Scrotal Recall is a clever, witty story about love, commitment and sexually transmitted disease and Raised By Wolves is the charming and funny story of Caitlin Moran's unique childhood, a tale of self-taught girls growing up on a council estate in Wolverhampton, a sort of Benefits Street meets Anne Of Green Gables.”

The full series order of Big Talk’s RAISED BY WOLVES, written by bestselling author and award-winning columnist Caitlin Moran, with her sister Caroline Moran, follows the pilot transmitting prior to Christmas on Channel 4. Set on a Wolverhampton council-estate, RAISED BY WOLVES is a modern day re-imagining of Caitlin and Caroline’s childhood – loads of kids, no money, home-schooled, and educating themselves on a bounty of books, films, TV and pop music.

Caitlin Moran said;  "It was foretold in ancient legend that when two sisters from a council-estate in Wolverhampton  - one brunette and over-sharey, one ginger and angry -  would, one day, write a sit-com for Channel 4, and finally popularise the local sayings of 'To be fair,' 'I don't reckon', 'Alright babba' and 'Ahhhhhh, binners'." That day has now come. We now go and eat faggots and peas, to celebrate."

The second 4Funny green-lit to series is SCROTAL RECALL, from Clerkenwell Films. Written by Tom Edge (The Midnight Beast), the series follows the disastrous exploits of Dylan Witter, who must contact everyone he’s ever slept with to tell them he has Chlamydia. Dylan’s not proud of the number of women he’s been with, so he decides to use this quest to make sense of the squandered opportunities, broken promises, and romantic car-crashes. In each episode, Dylan seeks out a different girl from his STI contact list, as he remembers a sexual encounter he’d previously tried his hardest to forget.

Joining him on this trip down memory lane are best friend Evie, and terrible influence Luke. Both have been by Dylan’s side for the past decade, mopping up the blood, sweat and tears. Love hurts - especially when you urinate.

Clerkenwell Films’ Chief Exec Murray Ferguson said: “We’re delighted to be making Scrotal Recall for Channel 4. Tom Edge has come up with a brilliant concept for a comedy, with bright, funny and engaging characters. The result is a unique comedy brimming with humour, heart and mild genital discomfort.”

RAISED BY WOLVES (6 x 30) will go into production later in the year for broadcast in 2015. The series was commissioned by Fiona McDermott and will be executive produced by Big Talk Chief Executive, Kenton Allen and Caroline Leddy (Inbetweeners).
