Channel 4 has commissioned a full series of sketch show Anna and Katy's Television Programme following a pilot which aired last summer. Anna & Katy's Television Programme is a 6-part character-driven sketch show for Channel 4 mixing the pair's unique comedy creations with celebrity cameos and daft TV pastiches such as daytime show 'Congratulation', a show where people write in to be congratulated for completing  life's minor tasks such as signing up for internet banking. The show will also feature some of the most exciting up and coming talents on the sketch comedy circuit.

Anna Crilly's previous credits include Lead Balloon (BBC 2) and Sorry I've Got Know Head (CBBC) and Katy Wix's include Torchwood (BBC 1) and Not Going Out (BBC1). The show will be produced by Roughcut TV's Jon Petrie with The Office producer Ash Atalla as executive producer. FremantleMedia Enterprises will distribute the series internationally

Anna & Katy said "We are beyond chuffed to get a full series with Channel 4. We'll aim not to balls it up. Thank you."

Nerys Evans, Commissioning Editor Comedy Channel 4 said "We can't wait to work with Anna and Katy on their wonderful new series for Channel 4; they're so funny you'll think they're men.

In further news, for the first quarter of 2012 Channel 4 has back to back new comedy series on E4. Kicking off with Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy on January 26th, Noel's new show will be followed by Cardinal Burns in March and The Midnight Beast in April.

Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy

Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy is a 7-part comedy show quite unlike anything else on television - a fusion of live action and animation, with music by Kasabian's Sergio Pizzorno. Along with animator/director Nigel Coan Noel has created a joyful, charming explosion of a TV show that is in the tradition of Spike Milligan and Kenny Everett. In the show Noel lives in a jungle tree house with his anteater butler (Mike Fielding), Andy Warhol his cleaner (Tom Meeten) and German trendy Dolly (Dolly Wells). Among other characters that feature throughout the series are: Tony Reason, a manta ray music producer who lives in a fish tank under the tree house; Roy Circles, a games teacher suffering from severe shell shock who's also a chocolate finger; Sgt Raymond Boombox, a food loving New York Cop with a knife wound on his arm that talks to him and helps him solve his cases; and Fantasy Man, a kind of Don Quixote trapped inside an electronic opera. Made by Secret Peter Executive producer is Derrin Schlesinger, Series Producer is Isibeal Balance and Noel Fielding and Nigel Coan direct

Cardinal Burns

Starring Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri the world of Cardinal Burns is surreal, cinematic and offbeat. Running characters include Office Flirt and New Guy, a bold take on the trials of office etiquette, a behind the scenes look at street artist Banksy, and Young Dreams, a parody of The Hills featuring three young girls on a fashion internship. Produced by Left Bank Pictures for E4 the six half hour episodes are written and performed by Seb Cardinal and Dustin Demri-Burns. Ben Taylor Directs alongside Producer Jenna Jones and Left Bank Pictures Chief Executive Andy Harries

The Midnight Beast

Already an online phenomenon with more than 44 million views to date, The Midnight Beast bring their all singing, all-dancing brand of comedy to E4.The series features band members Stefan Abingdon, Dru Wakely and Ashley Horne as struggling musicians, alongside a host of comedic guest stars including Simon Farnaby and Ryan Pope. As well as slipping into their trademark song-and-dance routines the boys have to cope with day-to-day challenges like sharing a flat and trying to impress girls when they've got no money and one of them has to sleep in the kitchen. Each episode sees them ‘stapling their songs and stupid real-life experiences together'. Written by The Midnight Beast with Jason Hazeley Joel Morris and Tom Edge the show is directed by Ben Gregor and produced by Mary Burke for Warp Films.

Shane Allen, Head of Channel 4 Comedy  said "Right from the start of 2012 we're delivering back to back series with daring and hugely distinct comedy voices as an anti-dote to the safe ,broad comedy drama you might find elsewhere. Channel 4 is the place to take risks and give opportunities to comedy's mavericks and lunatics. Katy & Anna are both and we're so thrilled they wanted to make their break with us".
