Channel 4 has selected Fulwell 73 as the production partner for the live TV fundraiser Stand Up To Cancer following a tendered process.
Stand Up To Cancer, launched as a joint fundraiser between C4 and Cancer Research UK in 2012, is the UK’s fastest growing fundraiser on commercial TV ever and has already raised nearly £40m.
In 2017, Stand Up To Cancer became the first live telethon to win an RTS award and to be nominated for a BAFTA. Stand Up To Cancer programming has ranked amongst the most-watched shows on C4 in recent years, with the live telethon in 2014 and 2016 peaking at 4.8m and 4.3m respectively. The Celebrity Crystal Maze for Stand Up To Cancer was Channel 4’s third most watched show of 2016 with 4.3m.
The TV event will next air in 2018 with Channel 4 supporting the campaign this autumn with a week of dedicated celebrity packed programming, including celebrity editions of Gogglebox, Hunted and First Dates.
Ed Havard, Channel 4’s Head of Entertainment and TV Events, said, “Stand Up To Cancer has grown rapidly to become one of the most successful and channel- defining events on 4. Fulwell produced a pitch for the 2018 show that was full of flair and ambition and we’re thrilled to be joining forces with one of the most talented teams in TV, who are always a joy to work with. Suzi Aplin has for many years been at the heart of Stand Up To Cancer’s success and she has produced award-winning shows that have raised millions of pounds, so it’s especially exciting that she will be back in charge working with Gabe Turner and the rest of the Fulwell operation.”
Gabe Turner, Partner at Fulwell 73, said, “We are honoured and excited to have been given such a tremendous opportunity. Working with Cancer Research UK and Channel 4 on Stand Up To Cancer will be a truly humbling experience and one that we realize how privileged we are to have.”
North London based independent production company Fulwell 73 have carved out an enviable reputation producing film, documentaries, commercials and television programmes across a wide range of genres. They have defied easy categorisation, picking up a hatful of BRIT Awards, National Film Awards and Emmys along the way.
