Channel 4 celebrates wins at the Asian Media Awards

Channel 4 News presenter Krishnan Guru-Murthy has won the Media Personality of the Year at the Asian Media Awards held in Manchester on Tuesday.

The awards recognize the strength and depth of the media industry, showcasing the best Asian talent working in the media. Presented by Dr Imran Akram, he told the audience Krishnan was a “worthy winner” of the special award.

Now in its second year, the Asian Media Awards also awarded Channel 4 News with the TV Report of the Year for Why Muslim Women Choose to Wear the Veil.

The report by Darsha Soni was part of a series of special Channel 4 News programmes called Britain’s Niqab looking at the controversies surrounding the wearing of the Niqab in modern Britain.
