Channel 4 have commissioned Northern Ireland indie Big Mountain Productions to produce Generation Foundation.

The 1 x 60 film will explore the world of make-up masters who use their face and fashion choices to stand out, beautify, or shock. Commissioned by Gill Wilson, Head of Features for Channel 4 it will be series produced by Lucy Wedlock, who counts One Born Every Minute and Come Dine With Me to her credits.

The programme features those who devote their life to the art of their make-up  - from Contouring Queens, Bad Barbies, and professional youtubers to enthusiastic amateurs with a flair for foundation – all get to showcase their skills.  However, all will start the process completely stripped back, for the others participants to decide which persona they will adopt when made-up….

Gill Wilson said: ‘It’s harder than ever to make a mark as an individual with make-up. Those we feature are pushing the boundaries to its limit, trying to create a look which is unique,  shocking, utterly perfect or all three.’

Jane Kelly, executive producer and creative director, Big Mountain added: We are proud to be bringing a growing worldwide phenomenon to primetime TV in a fun accessible new format for Channel 4. We’ve quite a track record in spotting new ways into global subjects from our base in Northern Ireland so we’re excited to see where our latest trend spotting will take us’

In meeting the ‘Generation Foundation’ the programme will explore the personalities of these fascinating individuals, and seek to discover the motivations behind their chosen looks, and how their distinctive creations have evolved. Through insightful demonstrations, these incredible artists will reveal how they use make-up and clothing to complete their striking and often head-turning appearances.
