Channel 4 follows paramedics in West Midlands for new daytime show

Channel 4 today announces a 10x60 commission from Curve Media of Trauma Hour.

Trauma Hour follows incredible paramedics based in the West Midlands, who care for a population of over 5.5 million people spread over 5 thousand square miles, as they respond to medical emergencies across the region. Each episode follows incidents that take place in the same hour across the region.

The programme was commissioned by David Sayer, Head of Daytime, Channel 4. The exec producers are Rob Carey and Camilla Lewis.

Sayer says: “Paramedics work in one of the most pressurised working environments imaginable. It’s insightful to see the sheer breadth of issues they deal with in the same hour across the West Midlands region.”

Exec producer Camilla Lewis says: “This series follows a returning cast of medical heroes in each episode, we’re gaining an insight into a job where you never know what’s going to happen next. With a multiple crew and camera approach, we’ll get to see and hear what they’re really feeling and thinking and catch those wonderful unguarded, unproduced moments that reveal so much about who these people really are and what makes them tick.”

The programme title is to be confirmed. The series is currently set to air in spring 2017.
