Channel 4 launches UK Programme Distribution website

Category: News Release

Channel 4 today announces the launch of a brand new TV programme sales website which will feature the rich mix of content the broadcaster offers for sale to other linear broadcasters in the UK and Ireland.

The site, available at www.channel4.com/distribution, includes a searchable catalogue together with comprehensive programme information and links to view programmes via 4oD for screening, enabling broadcaster programming teams to more easily explore the shows available

Additionally, accompanying the launch will be a brand new brochure showcasing a selection of programmes from the catalogue – including iconic brands such as Skins, Ali G, Made in Chelsea and Four in a Bed.

The project is being led by UK Secondary Sales Manager Holly Newey (nee Winder) who is responsible for supporting Channel 4’s programme distribution activities.

The launch builds on Channel 4’s long-standing UK programme distribution activity – combining the licensing of its extensive programme archive, with more recent shows sold in partnership with independent producers.

Notable deals have been concluded in 2014 with Scripps Network (for series featuring Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver, as well as titles such as Coach Trip and A Place In The Sun); UKTV for a package of factual, lifestyle and comedy titles, building on previous major deals with the broadcaster; as well as Discovery, London Live, BSkyB, Viacom and TV3.

Channel 4’s Distribution team is overseen by Head of Distribution Carl Pfeiffer and is responsible for managing the syndication of Channel 4’s channels, Video On Demand (VOD) services and programmes, bringing together the full spectrum of its licensing relationships in one place.

Carl said: “The launch of our website and brochure is an exciting time. As well as facilitating our existing relationships with broadcasters, I believe this can help us work with more producers across the sector who are looking to grow revenue. Channel 4 Distribution is a significant part of our commercial activity and it’s great to be able to shout even louder about it. ”
