Channel 4 nominated for six One World Media Awards
Category: News ReleaseChannel 4 has been nominated for six One World Media Awards, which recognise excellence in media coverage of the developing world.
Channel 4 is nominated in number of categories including the prestigious Documentary, Television and Journalist of the Year Awards.
Jamal Osman is nominated for Journalist of the Year for his work including the uplifting and heart-breaking film Somali Olympic Dreams (ITN/Channel 4 News).
Sri Lanka's Killing Fields is nominated for both the Television and Documentary Awards. The documentary featured devastating evidence of war crimes was screened at the UN Human Rights Council and led to David Cameron to call for an investigation into the allegations.
Unreported World: Undercover Syria was nominated for the Television Award. The team were one of the few to avoid the ban on foreign media operating without official Syrian permission, and meet the protestors and the victims of the bloody crackdown.
Other Channel 4 programmes include: Famine in Somalia - al-Shabaab exclusive - nominated for News Award and Up in Smoke (More 4) in the Sustainable Development category.

This year's awards mark 25 years of charitable work by One World Media. Winners will be announced at the ceremony, hosted by Channel 4 News Presenter Jon Snow, on Tuesday 8th May at Kings Place, London.
