Channel 4 opens its doors this Christmas to reward registered viewers

Category: News Release

Channel 4 will be opening its doors to its six million plus registered viewers in a money-can't-buy prize give-away for Christmas 2012.

From Monday 10th to Wednesday 19th December 2012, by correctly answering a question online at www.channel4.com/giveaway, registered viewers will be in with a chance of winning daily prizes like: signed scripts; set tours;  smart TVs; YouView boxes; Android phones; XBoxes and more. For this period registered users will also enjoy a 10% discount from the Channel 4 Store http://www.channel4store.co.uk/.

Viewers visiting the Christmas give-away site who are not yet registered with Channel4.com will be directed to the registration page to do so in order to enter the competition.

The give-away will be promoted on air and online in a campaign designed by Channel 4's award-winning in-house agency 4Creative.

Channel 4's viewer engagement strategy aims to reward as well as continue to engage registered viewers whilst encouraging new registrants. The Christmas give-away is just one of many rewarding experiences registered viewers can expect from Channel 4 going into 2013.

One such example is the online competition accompanying the Channel 4 Mash Up on the 4th January. Registered viewers stand to win £10,000 by correctly identifying twenty well known faces ‘hidden' throughout the night's programmes.

Channel 4 is the first UK broadcaster to embrace using viewer data to inform its strategy and confirmed at the Channel 4 Upfront this month that its database of registered viewers would exceed six million - with registrations continuing to grow at a rate of over ten thousand a day. One in three 16-24 year-olds, a key demographic for the broadcaster, are now registered at channel4.com.

Steven Forde, Head of Viewer Relationship Management, Channel 4 said: "In 2013 Channel 4 aims to deepen its relationship with its viewers. Knowing more about them means we can offer them more of the content they love, experiences they love and make their time with 4 feel even more rewarding."
