Category: News Release

Channel 4 today announces the commission of a 1x30’ new health programme, The Health Detectives produced by 7 Wonder. The show will explore some of the most jaw dropping body problems, social media rumours and health fads that have gone viral, in an attempt to separate fact from fiction.

Delivering health by stealth, three intrepid presenters – Cherry Healey, Dr Pixie McKenna and Science Journalist Dara Mohammadi will leave no stone unturned in their unflinching quest to find out if cheesy feet could save lives, whether you can get drunk on chips and if faecal transplants are the future.

With access to cutting edge experiments and medical phenomena, The Health Detectives will quash rumours, dispel myths and reveal some of the latest advances in medical research and development, enabling viewers to better understand their own bodies along the way.

Simone Haywood, Commissioning Editor, Formats at Channel 4 says: “With many of us turning to the internet to find a solutions to our health problems, this programme takes a look at the solutions that have gone viral, as well as some of the health hoaxes on social media.”

Jeremy Lee, Executive Producer at 7 Wonder adds: "Every day we are bombarded with unbelievable stories about our bodies on social media and in the tabloids, which leaves people unsure of what to believe is true. The Health Detectives will address some of these stories, exploring the causes and science behind them, however cheeky they may be. We’re really excited about the show and building on our heritage of creating informative, yet entertaining programming.”

The Health Detectives was commissioned for Channel 4 by Simone Haywood, Commissioning Editor for Formats and Dom Bird, Head of Formats. The Executive Producers for 7 Wonder are Jeremy Lee and Alexandra Fraser. 7 Wonder is backed by Seven Network Australia.
