Channel 4 Racing's Denise Large receives RTS nomination

The multicamera skills of Denise Large, Channel 4 Racing’s programme director, have seen her nominated for this year’s Royal Television Society (RTS) Craft & Design Awards.

Channel 4’s inaugural coverage of the 2013 John Smith’s Grand National (April 4 – 6) was directed by Denise Large – the first female programme director of the ‘nations race’ – and attracted 8.9million viewers.

Speaking on the nomination, Denise Large, says: “To direct the Grand National was a dream come true and a highlight of my career.  I’m absolutely thrilled with the nomination.”

Contenders in the Multicamera Work Sport include:

·         Paul Davies, Wimbledon Men’s Final - Murray V Djokovic, BBC Sport for BBC One

·         Camera Team, Isle Of Man TT Races 2013, North One Television for ITV4

·         Denise Large, The John Smith’s Grand National 2013, IMG for Channel 4

The Awards, which are chaired by Zodiak chief executive Nigel Pickard, recognise the range of skills and processes involved in programme production. This year there are 25 categories with the winners to be announced on Monday, 18th November at The Savoy, London.
