Channel 4 wins five Broadcast awards
Category: News ReleaseThe entire Channel 4 factual team has been quarantined to prevent the spread of a devastating outbreak of smugness following a quite stupendous night of success at the Broadcast Awards 2014. At a ceremony that took place somewhere last night, hosted by whatshischops (look, you can find this stuff elsewhere) Channel 4 won every factual award on offer.
The big winner on the night was Gogglebox, which won Best Popular Factual Programme and Best Original Programme, which (calculators at the ready) totalled TWO awards. This is particularly handy, as a new series of the show will be coming back soon, so thanks for that, Broadcast.
Other winners were The Murder Trial, which won the Best Documentary category (in which Richard III: The King in the Car Park was commended) and Educating Yorkshire, which won Best Documentary Series. The Best News & Current Affairs Programme was Syria: Across The Lines, but we’ve put that in a different sentence so the previous one didn’t go on too long.
Here is the full list of winners from last night. (Full in the sense of just the ones that Channel 4 won).
Best Popular Factual Programme: Gogglebox, Studio Lambert for Channel 4
Best Documentary Programme: The Murder Trial, Windfall Films West for Channel 4
Commended: Richard III: The King in the Car Park, Darlow Smithson Productions for Channel 4
Best News & Current Affairs Programme: Syria: Across The Lines, Channel 4 Dispatches, Quicksilver for Channel 4
Best Original Programme: Gogglebox, Studio Lambert for Channel 4
Best Documentary Series: Educating Yorkshire, Twofour for Channel 4
