Child Genius returns to Channel 4 with new host, Richard Osman

Category: News Release

The search for Britain’s brightest 8-12 year old is back, as Child Genius returns to Channel 4 for a fourth series. This year each round of the competition will be hosted by TV mastermind Richard Osman as the children compete in a variety of subjects including maths, spelling, memory and general knowledge.

The 4x60’ series, produced by Wall to Wall (a Warner Bros. Television Production UK Ltd company), will once again follow the lives of the children and their families as they progress through the now annual competition, organised in association with British Mensa.

Every parent has their own style and the parents of gifted children are no different. From hands on to laid back, each family featured has a unique take on what it’s like to bring up a young genius as the children handle growing up often feeling different to their peers.

Child Genius was commissioned by Channel 4’s Lucy Leveugle, Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor. The series will be executive produced by Wall to Wall’s Mark Saben.

Richard Osman said: "I jumped at the chance to get involved with 'Child Genius'. The previous series have been so warm and charming, and such a celebration of bright and funny kids. I know I would have taken part in the show if it had been around when I was young. I would have lost very badly though.”
