Drifters returns for second series on E4

Category: News Release

Drifters, the original comedy series from writer-performer Jessica Knappett about three best friends trying - and largely failing - to figure out love and life in Leeds, will return for a second series for E4.

On hearing the news of her show’s recommission, Jessica Knappett, who plays the lead Meg, said:"I'm absolutely delighted, it's going to keep my mum and dad off my back for another year."

C4 Comedy Commissioning Editor, Rachel Springett, said: "We are delighted to be bringing back Meg, Bunny and Laura for a second run of Drifters after a glorious first series. We look forward to seeing what humiliating, life affirming and troublesome moments Jessica Knappett has in store for the girls this time around."

The new series of 6 x 30’ eps will see hapless Meg, her daydreamer cousin Bunny (Lydia Rose Bewley) and no nonsense Leeds lass Laura (Lauren O’Rourke) face more hilariously humiliating encounters as their Gap Year starts to drift into its third year. Expect more drunken mischief, dodgy relationships and embarrassing jobs as the girls continue to “embellish” their fantastical CVs.

The director is Tom Marshall (London Irish). Executive Producers are Damon Beesley, Iain Morris and Simon Wilson and the series will be produced by Sam Pinnell.

The second series of Drifters was recommissioned by E4 by Comedy Commissioning Editor Rachel Springett.

Bwark Productions is the production company behind E4's multi-award winning series and film, The Inbetweeners, and is a Zodiak Media Company.
