It may be resemble a wet February night in Dundee out there. The actual value of the paper of your £5 note may exceed the value it represents. We might have lost in the football to a frozen volcanic rock populated largely by puffins. But the world just got a little better last night, with the news that E4 and All4 triumphed at the Broadcast Digital Awards. Yes, we thought that would make you happy.

E4 was named Broadcast Digital Channel of the Year for the second year-running, to go with Channel 4’s award as Channel of the Year in February. The judges remarked: “It is rare that a channel is strong enough to hold onto the top prize for a second consecutive year – but E4 has done just that, thanks to a diverse slate and some genuine breakout hits.”

Meanwhile, All4 won in the Best Digital Video Platform category. “It offers users box sets, thousands of hours of archive content, five channels of live viewing and original and exclusive content, as well as the innovative global drama brand Walter Presents. Oh, and catch-up,” said the judges report.

There were awards, too, for two programmes. More 4’s Charlie Hebdo: 3 Days that Shook Paris won Best Popular Factual Programme. “Not only was More 4 first out of the gate with this doc, but it did so with authority, forensic detail and acute sensitivity. It was… an innovative and exciting account of a tragic, world-changing event, told brilliantly with access to all involved.”

E4’s Chewing Gum continued its march towards winning every award in the world by being named Best Scripted Programme. “Rarely does a comedy arrive so fresh, funny and fully formed, with real swagger and confidence about what it wants to be and say.” Next up, expect Michaela Coel’s show to triumph at the British Insurance Providers’ Awards (it’s won everything else).

It’s going to be okay, Britain. Everything’s going to be fine. Shhhh now…
