Film4 films Room and Amy honoured at the British Academy Film Awards
Category: News ReleaseFilm4 backed films were on fine display at the BAFTAs last night with nominations for an extraordinary range of films from Room, Carol, Ex_Machina, Amy, 45 Years, The Lobster and Second Coming.
Congratulations to Brie Larson who took the BAFTA award for leading actress for her stunning performance in Lenny Abahamson's Room. This latest award follows a host of other wins for her, including a Golden Globe and SAG Award.
And our congratulations too go to director Asif Kapadia and producer James Gay Rees who collected the award for Best Documentary for the much-loved, Amy. Again this follows on the back of wins at the Critics’ Choice Awards and The Evening Standard British Film Awards.
Both films also feature in a nominations list for this year’s Academy Awards later this month, alongside Carol, Ex_Machina, 45 Years and Youth, which see Film4-backed films receive a record 15 nominations.
Having had his first big screen role in Film4’s Attack the Block, we are delighted too that John Boyega won the EE Rising Star award last night.
