Fire up the kiln and get the chisels at the ready with Monty Don

Channel 4 has commissioned a brand new 6x60’ series Monty Don’s Hard Craft (w/t) for More4.  Across the series, to be produced by Ricochet, Monty Don will explore the world of traditional craftsmanship with Britain’s leading experts teaching gifted amateurs the skills they need to know need to turn their passion into a potential career. 
 
Britain has a proud tradition of making things by hand, from ironmongers and blacksmiths to glass blowers and stonemasons, with these skilled workers having played a huge role in our national heritage. Monty Don’s Hard Craft (w/t) will celebrate the brilliance of the UK’s working crafts men and women as they assess the abilities of rising talents who are competing for an opportunity that could change their lives. 

Through the series, the crafts men and women will take on projects to hone their  creative and technical skills - including genuine commissions from commercial businesses – which could ease their path to business success. For each craftsperson, the pressure is on to use their traditional skills in a modern world to impress the experts.

Monty Don’s Hard Craft (w/t) was commissioned by Nick Hornby, Commissioning Editor for Features at Channel 4. The series will be produced by Ricochet and executive produced by Joanna Ball and Tim Quicke with Series Producer, Kate Morey. The series will air on More4 in 2014.
