Gogglebox and Big Bang Theory win at NTAs

Category: News Release

At what we are contractually obliged to refer to as a star-studded bash at the O2 Arena last night, presented by that nice Dermot O’Leary, Channel 4 won an extraordinary TWO awards, placing the broadcaster above both Boomerang +1 and the God Channel.

Gogglebox won the Factual Entertainment category at the National Television Awards for the second year running last night, beating DIY SOS: The Big Build, Paul O’Grady: For The Love Of Dogs and Top Gear.

Meanwhile, it emerged last night that the House of Lannister had finally met its match, as it was roundly defeated by a science geek called Sheldon and his equally dweeby chums, when Game of Thrones was vanquished by The Big Bang Theory in the Best International Show category. Open to any show not made in the UK, this basically means that The Big Bang Theory is now officially the best show. In. The. World.

Although other broadcasters won more awards than Channel 4, industry insiders were agreed last night that the Factual Entertainment Award and the Best International Show Award were at least ten times more important than the other awards, making Channel 4 the most successful broadcaster on the night. Sort of.

Almost uniquely for articles reporting what happened at the awards, we don’t have any pictures of the wardrobe fails from last night. Sorry about that. To make up for it, here’s a video of puppies swimming.
