Grayson Perry reveals new art works based on London's bankers

Category: News Release

A huge glazed ceramic penis is one of the two new artworks revealed today by Grayson Perry. The works were created in response to his encounters with the bankers and financial traders of the City of London, as part of his exploration of contemporary masculinity for his latest Channel 4 series Grayson Perry: All Man.

The series, which reaches its conclusion this Thursday (19 May), sees Perry spend time in a different ultra-male world each week, in an attempt to discover what their extreme maleness has to tell us about the changing lives and expectations of all men in Britain today.

The final episode focuses on the City where the upper echelons are still dominated by one gender: 84% of senior City bankers are men. The episode details Grayson’s startling encounters with some self-proclaimed ‘warriors’ of the financial sector and one hedge-fund manager who admits to enjoying the financial crash of 2008.

Object in Foreground is an enormous glazed ceramic penis, embossed with the images of bank notes, designer objects and a collage of images of city workers.
