The Handmaid's Tale and This Is Us recognised at the 2017 Emmy Awards

The Handmaid’s Tale scooped an impressive five awards at this year’s ceremony, making it the joint top most successful show of the evening.

The series won:

  • Outstanding Drama Series
  • Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series – Elisabeth Moss
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series – Ann Dowd
  • Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series – Bruce Miller
  • Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series – Reed Morano

Based on the award-winning, best-selling novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States.

The series performed as Channel 4’s biggest acquisition since Homeland and attracted a current series average consolidated audience of 2.3 million viewers per episode. The Handmaid’s Tale series 2 will be coming to Channel 4 next year.

Huge congratulations also to Sterling K. Brown who won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the emotional and heart-warming series This Is Us.
