Introduction to the 2014 Flat Racing Season
Category: News ReleaseThe weekend of Saturday, May 3rd 2014 sees Channel 4 Racing broadcast the QIPCO Guineas Festival from Newmarket that launches the UK’s Flat Turf season.
The six-month season coverage will incorporate 54 racedays and some 32 Morning Line shows devoted to the glamorous sport that also includes the international Blue Riband – Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in early October and three jump racing events from Market Rasen, Aintree and Wincanton.
The Channel 4 Racing team will broadcast Flat Turf racing from 21 racecourses across the UK live on Channel 4. These include Ayr and Musselburgh, flat racing headquarters – Newmarket – with 17 visits, to Ascot and Newbury, the borough of London with Epsom Downs the home of the Investec Derby Festival, plus Sandown Park and Kempton Park; northern tracks such as Haydock Park, Doncaster and York to the picturesque setting of Glorious Goodwood and many more.
Over 170 hours of terrestrial exposure will be pledged to flat racing with the regular Saturday Morning Line also on-air for the entire Royal Ascot meeting plus evening highlights. Afternoon racing will continue to benefit from a two and a half hour broadcast slot taking in from six to eight high quality and competitive races.
