The island has a circumference of approximately 8kms
It is completely uninhabited, historically visited by passing hunters and fishermen
The island has swamp and mangrove, dense jungle (which covers 80% of the island) and five beaches
Fauna present on the island include:
- iguanas, boa-constrictor snakes, caiman, scorpions, spiders, bees
- Birds include: pelicans, booby-birds, heron, frigate bird, egret, ibis and cormorant
- Fish and Crustaceans; Sting ray and other rays perhaps mantaray instead, jelly fish, stonefish, nurse sharks, whales, sea snakes, giant turtles, crabs, oysters and a wide variety of edible fish are to be found in the sea off the island
Flora present:
- Palm Trees
- Wild fig
- Yucca
- Guazuma berries
- Spanish lime
- Coconut palms
- Death apple trees
- Sour cane
The men were on the island during the dry season, with temperatures commonly over 30 degrees celsuis
