The Jump set to return to Channel 4 for third series

Category: News Release

Following a second successful series earlier this year, the most thrilling show on television - The Jump - is set to return to Channel 4 for an epic third series in 2016. Series two averaged at 2.3 million viewers across the stripped run.

Commissioned by Commissioning Editor for Factual Entertainment, Tom Beck and Channel 4’s Head of Factual Entertainment, Liam Humphreys and co-produced by Twofour and GroupM Entertainment, The Jump will once again see a group of famous faces decamp to the slopes to compete in gruelling extreme winter sports.

Of the return Liam Humphreys said “With The Jump we’ve created a show that is a unique blend of daring live action, genuine sporting skill and some raucous après ski – it’s the most frightening show on TV.

He added “It’s a magical formula in which Joey Essex can legitimately beat Mike Tindall in a sporting arena. It is compelling viewing; the show wears its authentic Winter Olympics credentials lightly and keeps it’s tongue planted firmly in its cheek”.

Andrew Mackenzie, Chief Creative Officer, Twofour Group said “We're pleased The Jump reached new heights in series two and delighted that Channel 4 has backed the team to deliver a series on an even greater scale next year.”

Tony Moulsdale, Head of Programming at GroupM Entertainment said "The Jump was, and still is a significant investment for GME, so its continued success is important to us.

Twofour have done a remarkable job delivering a challenging show with such creative force - and this recommission demonstrates the resulting success - but we want to continue to build the format to help make it bigger and better, which is exactly what a content partnership means to us."

Earlier this year Joey Essex battled stiff competition to take the cowbell trophy as 2015’s champion, with an epic 17.5 meter skill jump. But just who will have the courage and skills to steal his crown next year?
