The Jump - Show 3 recap

Category: News Release

Tonight live from Jump Mountain the ten remaining competitors in The Jump 2016 went head to head in the Parallel Slalom with the slowest down the course facing The Air Jump eliminator.

Up first Mark-Francis revealed exclusively that he’ll be staying out in Austria at the competitors Schloss for the next three weeks to recuperate and get all the Après Ski gossip.

First up to race in Parallel Slalom were socialite Tamara Beckwith and new lady on the mountain Heather Mills. Heather had unfinished business after leaving the competition early last year when she had to ski jump with a prosthetic leg borrowed from a man with a size 12 foot after her prosthetic leg was broken. The rivalry between the pair was fierce and tempers flared during training, making the first race of the night all the more intense. It was a close race from the off with a photo finish, neither woman wanted to lose but Heather just nudged in front at the finish line, putting her through to next week.

Up next were Eastenders actor Sid Owen and Superman heart-throb Dean Cain. Both men were in it to win and determined that they would speed down the run. It was close at the start but Dean managed to edge ahead taking first place, leaving Sid facing The Air Jump eliminator.

James ‘Arg’ Argent returned to the competition tonight after being eliminated last week. He replaced Linford Christie who sadly had to withdraw from the competition due to a hamstring injury. After a slow start to Alpine training Arg was back and ready to take on the baton from Linford and do his best to psych out and beat pop star Sarah Harding. Sarah was quick out the starting blocks and Arg just couldn’t catch her taking a fall just as Sarah crossed the finish line but he picked himself up and finished the race with true Olympic spirit.

Race four was a battle of the boy bands with ex-Westlife singer Brian McFadden going head to head with ex-Wanted singer Tom Parker. Tom had failed to finish one fifth of his training, so the pressure was on to stay upright in the race. Tom was quick from the off, Brian put up a good fight but the Wanted star took number one spot this time.

Finally new recruits Rugby World Cup hero Ben Cohen and one-time king of the jungle Joe Swash prepared to battle it out on the slopes.  Billed as David Vs Goliath by Swash, neither wanted to leave the competition on their first outing. It was a good start from Ben but Joe was hot on his heels until they both fell at the final gate, missing it, but got up and completed the course.  Missing the last gate meant they would both face The Air Jump.

Dean Cain and Heather Mills headed back to the top of the slalom run after clocking the fastest times down the course.  The winners race was close but Superman Dean managed to pip Heather at the post to be crowned Jump Slalom Champion 2016.

With the Slalom Champion given the trophy it was time to reveal who would be eliminated. Due to adverse weather conditions this week, the competitors earlier recorded contingency Air Jumps were used.

Up first was Tamara Beckwith with a good pop jumping 8.55m high. Sid Owen was up next leaping 8.91m just about beating Tamara to remain in the competition. James ‘Arg’ Argent followed next and looking confident, did a star jump leap and reached 8.27m leaving him in the danger zone of elimination. As Brian McFadden took his place at the top of the run, he had a determined look in his eye and flew 8.99m in the air leaving Arg looking nervous.  Ben Cohen had it all to play for having competed for the first time tonight and jumped a whopping 9.42m. There was still Joe Swash to go, and Arg was hoping his new buddy wouldn’t beat him.  Joe had his eyes on the prize and flew 8.67m meaning Arg would leave the competition.

The Jump returns next Sunday at 7:30pm with the nine competitors taking on brand new event for 2016, Moguls.
