The Morning Line live from Godolphin operation

Category: News Release

This Saturday, (October 10th) Channel 4’s The Morning Line will be live from the stables of Godolphin trainer - Charlie Appleby.

Nick Luck will present Saturday’s Morning Line from Moulton Paddocks – one of Godolphin’s two training establishments in and around Newmarket; and will complement the racecourse’s two-day Future Champions Day Festival which boasts an impressive £2 million total prize-money including the competitive £250,000 Betfred Cesarewitch.

Sophie Veats, Producer of The Morning Line, explains: “We have this amazing Saturday morning platform where we can enjoy exploring all aspects of the sport from last month’s visit to Banstead Manor to this week’s stable visit and a bespoke Morning Line on QIPCO British Champions Day (October 17th).

“These opportunities arise through unrivalled accessibility from those that work in horseracing and for which we are extremely grateful."

About Charlie Appleby:

Charlie was appointed a Godolphin trainer in July 2013 after 15 years working for the most international of all racing stables. His association with the firm started when Charlie’s then employer, David Loder, was appointed a private trainer of two-year-olds for Godolphin back in 1998.

With a wealth of experience gathered over the lengthy period, Charlie became involved in the main training set-up run by Saeed bin Suroor in 2003. His role varied from being responsible for travelling horses all around the world, to an assistant head lad, yard manager and then an assistant trainer’s role in Dubai looking after the Carnival horses.

In the spring of 2009, Charlie returned to Newmarket initially working as the head lad at Moulton Paddocks before another promotion to assistant trainer.   He took over as trainer at Moulton Paddocks on 25th July 2013 and sent out his first winner almost immediately as Expressly readily captured an Ascot fillies’ maiden on 28th July.   Group successes have been plentiful with a number of goals and targets on the agenda.
