New award tops successful month for Channel 4 News and Current Affairs

Last night, Olly Lambert, was honoured with The Rory Peck Award for Features, in front of a packed audience at London's BFI Southbank.

His critically acclaimed film, ‘Syria: Across the Lines - Channel 4 Dispatches’, explored the huge human cost of the on-going conflict.

The Rory Peck Awards honours the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news and current affairs.

This award tops off a hugely successful month for Channel 4 News and Current Affairs and Olly Lambert in particular.

At the start of November, ‘Syria: Across The Lines’ won Best Documentary for Current Affairs at the prestigious Grierson Documentary Awards.

Channel 4 News and Current Affairs received two Foreign Press Association Awards:

-       TV Documentary/Feature Story of the Year Award went to Giles Duley and Siobhan Sinnerton for ‘Walking Wounded: Return to the Front Line’.

-        ‘The agony of Aleppo’s children’ was awarded TV News Story of the Year.  

Channel 4 News and Current Affairs scooped three awards at the Association for International Broadcasting Awards.

-       'Walking Wounded: Return to the Frontline' was awarded the International current affairs TV documentary.

-       Channel 4’s 'Syria Across the Lines' won the Middle East documentary category.

-       The Hunt for Britain’s Sex Gangs – Channel 4 Dispatches' scooped the Awards for Investigative documentary.
