No Offence series 2

Category: News Release

Paul Abbott‘s RTS award-winning prime time drama No Offence returns in January with seven brand-new raucous and razor-sharp episodes for Channel 4, shot on location in Manchester.

The unorthodox crack team of gobby cops all return at full-throttle, headed up by the brilliant blonde bonce Spartacus warrior DI Viv Deering, (Joanna Scanlan - Fungus The Bogeyman, The Thick of It, Getting On), impulsive and street-smart DC Dinah Kowalska (Elaine Cassidy - The Paradise, Harper’s Island) and neurotic DS Joy Freers (Alexandra Roach - The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Hunderby).

Joining the team this season is the younger, hyper aspirational new boss, Detective Superintendent Christine Lickberg (Sarah Solemani – Bridget Jones Baby, Him & Her) and office manager Gavin (Conor MacNeill – The Fall) – loved by the guys and hated by the girls on the team.

At their sides in the crumbling Friday Street cop-shop are: unshakeable DC Spike (Will Mellor - In The Club, Broadchurch), maverick Miller (Paul Ritter - Friday Night Dinner, Vera), cool PC Stuart (Tom Varey - The Village), calm PC Taz (Neet Mohan - Fresh Meat), mischievous PC Jonah (Ste Johnston - Fungus The Bogeyman) and the force of nature that is PC Tegan (Saira Choudhry - Hollyoaks), who all go above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done.

In an explosive start to the second series, Deering is thrust head to head against a ferocious and unpredictable matriarch, Nora Attah (Rakie Ayola – Holby City, Dredd) and her volatile son Manni (Zachary Momoh – To Kill A Mockingbird), one of Manchester’s most feared crime families – The Attahs. Viv is determined to broker peace but firebombs rain down thrusting the city back to the dark days of its “Gunchester” past. Viv and the Friday Street squad go all out to bring those responsible to justice and the battle for the streets of Manchester begins…

And all the while a tsunami of extraordinary crimes come crashing in through the door of Friday Street each and every episode. Fraudulent crematorium owners, budgie stealing teenagers crying wolf, fake paramedics, paedophile hunters and vigilante dads… and this only scratches the surface of the dark, surreal world of Manchester’s criminal underbelly which the team negotiate time and again.

A day in the life of our Friday Street cops promises a unique mix of warmth, humour, bonkers energy and heart through their frequently bizarre adventures – and watching our team get through promises not only thrilling cases cracked by a brilliant group of professionals, but the emotional ups and downs of a dysfunctional and memorable crime fighting family.

Further cast include: Patrick Bergin (Sleeping With The Enemy, Patriot Games) as gangster supremo Earl Kennedy; Jody Latham (Shameless, The Fixer), Charlie May-Clarke (South Riding, The Limehouse Golem), Kate O’Flynn (Bridget Jones Baby), Trevor Laird (Death In Paradise), Felix Scott (Wolf Hall), Keith Dunphy (The Wind that Shakes the Barley), Larrington Walker (Second Coming), Orla O'Rourke (Calvary), Chook Sibtain (The Sarah Jane Adventures), Struan Rodger (Game Of Thrones), Valerie Lilley (Shameless), Kieran O’Brien (9 Songs), Moya Brady (Shameless) and Zac Sutcliffe (Grimsby, Peter and Wendy) as the terrifying teen killer Kim Garvey.
