Objective steps back a century for Channel 4

Category: News Release

Objective Productions has been commissioned to produce a brand new series for Channel 4, taking a glimpse at some of the most iconic, and ridiculous relics from the 20th Century.

A new take on the archive show, That’s So Last Century is an entertaining three-part series in which celebrities, and some of their kids, dig deep into the not-so-ancient world of the late 20th Century to uncover the technologies and pop culture artefacts that time has (almost) forgotten.

Bringing together the gadgets, games and gizmos of their childhood a number of well-known faces including Jimmy Carr and James Corden see how well they have stood the test of time.

However, how will modern children cope with taking a selfie on an old fashioned 35mm camera? What will they make of lo-fi video games played on a TV with no remote control? And how will they react to a mobile phone that looks and weighs the same as a brick? Vic Reeves, Dom Joly, Will Mellor and families look at how today's smartphone wielding youngsters feel towards massive mobile phones to VHS players, Walkmans and Spectrum computers.

Commissioned by Channel 4’s Formats Commissioning Editor Jilly Pearce, That’s So Last Century is an eye opening and smart celebration of how the speed of technological and cultural changes has, in just a few years, made objects, TV shows and gadgets bizarre and unrecognisable to kids today.

Made by All3 Media’s Objective Productions the series producer is Ben Jessop and it is executive produced by Paul Gilheany and Layla Smith. The series will be broadcast on Channel 4 in December 2015.
