Objective Productions has been commissioned to make a second series of the highly successful hidden camera show, Bad Robots, for E4 (6 x 30’).

The prank show of our time sees a host of mischievous machines from the fictional company TezCorp Industries cause havoc for individuals by making everyday tasks an absolute nightmare to deal with.

Using new technology to create infuriating situations and computer-generated pranks, the first series of the hit show averaged at 439,000 viewers, up 28% on the slot average. It also did particularly well with the channel’s key demographic, with 56% of its audience being of 16-34 year-olds, taking a 5.8% share, 39% up from the slot average of 4%.

Voiced by a raft of talent including Rob Delaney, with Sir Michael Gambon as the eponymous robot, the show had above average 4oD downloads, regularly trended on Twitter, and also received critical acclaim, being referred to as ‘innovative’, ‘frequently hilarious’ and ‘an absolute joy’.

Series two will see the return of some favorite menacing machines, from photo booths to pub quiz machines and robots standing in for humans at every possible opportunity. Joining the ranks will be some brand new automated hell raisers who, as with series one, will frequently be having the last laugh at the expense of humans.

Laura Riseam, Channel 4 Commissioner said: “We are so pleased with the success of the first series and can’t wait to unleash the troublemaking machines on the unknowing public once again”.

The pre-watershed Bad-ish Robots will also be back for family friendly trouble which will have kids and parents alike in stitches.

Bad Robots is made by Objective Productions, part of the All3 Media Group, for E4. The series will again be directed by Paul Routledge and produced by Ben Spiteri and Executive Producers are Nathan Eastwood and Andrew Newman. Commissioned by Laura Riseam.
