Press site weekly round-up, 28th May 2012

Category: News Release

It's weekly round-up time again. I know, it can all get a little confusing - does the weekly round-up happen on Mondays or Tuesdays? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world... no, hang on, that's not right... Anyway, next week it won't happen until at least Wednesday, as we'll all be celebrating the Queen's diamond jubilee by eating cucumber sandwiches, wrapping ourselves in the flag, and feeling ever-so-slightly sorry for anyone unlucky enough to be foreign.

News:
Only this very morning we've announced details of our coverage of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, as well as introducing Lexi, a fantastic graphics system to aid understanding of Paralympic classification. David Abraham has also unveiled the new Big 4 installation, celebrating Channel 4's broadcasting of the games.

In other news, we announced our viewer promise, giving viewers greater transparency and control over their personal data. If that sounds boring as all hell (and by God we like to think it does) then click here to have that nice Alan Carr explain it in a much more interesting way.

Elsewhere, 4Talent took to the road, visiting areas of high youth unemployment to provide information and opportunities to young people wanting to work in the creative sector. We put up our 4oD report for April, which we are delighted to announce was our most popular month on 4oD since, er, March. The Embarrassing Bodies app has topped the iTunes chart (and no, it's not all about photographing your gingangoolies). And the guests were announced for the new Angelos Epithomiou show coming up this June.

Oh, and naturally, we've won more awards. Baftas, no less.

New commissions:
Not a commission exactly, but we got our shiny new Blaps out this week, and very delightful they were too.

Video:
Here's a cheeky little video interview with those comedy scamps Cardinal Burns - embeds available.

Programme information:
As always, there's some of that.
