Renowned chef and food writer Rachel Allen and Michelin Star restaurateur Glynn Purnell will join forces as the new judging duo on Channel 4’s My Kitchen Rules UK, produced by 7 Wonder.
The competitive cooking series, which will return for a second series later this year on Channel 4, sees entrepreneurial amateur cooks from across the UK open their own restaurants at home in a bid to scoop a cash prize and the right to say, “My Kitchen Rules.”
My Kitchen Rules UK launched last summer on Channel 4 and is based on the knock-out success of Australia's My Kitchen Rules, which holds the top spot as the country’s number one show on Seven Network and is now screened in 160+ countries. , Following the success of the UK 30-part series, series two will be extended by a further 10 hour-long shows, revamped and full of new surprises.
Rachel Allen comments: “I’m delighted to be hosting the new series of My Kitchen Rules UK with the amazingly talented Yummy Brummie, Glynn Purnell. We’ll be judging some of the UK’s best home chefs who think they’ve got what it takes to win the grand prize.
“If you’ve got a foodie dream, then this is your chance. We’re looking for pairs of contestants who have a burning ambition to cook great food and impress not only Glynn and I, but a host of celebrity guest judges that will be joining us throughout the competition.”
Glynn Purnell adds: “My Kitchen Rules is an absolutely brilliant TV showcase for amateur chefs who are passionate about food. I couldn’t be more excited to be part of it and I’m thrilled to be alongside my fellow judge and host Rachel Allen, a highly respected culinary leading lady. I can’t wait to get started!”
For many of last year’s contestants, the competition proved to be a springboard for new culinary ventures and career changes.
