Richard Johnson joins Channel 4 Racing for three fixtures

Category: News Release

Top jockey Richard Johnson, who is serving a 12-day ban starting Friday, will join the team at Ascot on Saturday (December 20th), at Chepstow for the Coral Welsh Grand National (December 27th) and at Cheltenham for the New Year’s Day fixture.

Sophie Veats, The Morning Line Producer, explains: “We’re delighted that Richard will be joining the Morning Line and the afternoon team.  Having an active jockey involved in race analysis provides an added dimension to our coverage.”

Richard Johnson adds: “It’s very nice be asked to work with the Channel 4 Racing team and it will be an excellent experience.  Factoring in Christmas, my ban extends to just over a fortnight so it was a great opportunity to keep busy - I’ve also got to pay for Christmas somehow!”

Richard Johnson is currently in second place in the Jump Jockeys Championship with a 19% strike rate with 105 winners this season and a noteworthy £1,154,113 total prize-money to date.  The last month or so has seen Richard dominate the headlines with a run of big Saturday wins.
