RTS nominations triumph for Channel 4
Category: News Release
Yeehaw. Today, the sun is shining both literally and metaphorically on Horseferry Road, as we bask in the warmth of another delicious spot of recognition, courtesy of our good friends at the RTS (apparently this stands for Royal Television Society, though as of today it could equally mean Really Terrifically Sensible). This morning, they have announced their nominations for the RTS Programme Awards 2016, and in their infinite wisdom, these world-renowned arbiters of taste have decided to bestow a stunning 24 nominations to Channel 4 programmes. It would be ungallant of us in the extreme to compare this with other channels. But it’s more than double what any of them got. (Gallantry is so 20th Century).
Among those receiving multiple nominations are Michaela Coel, who has been nominated in three categories for her brilliant debut series Chewing Gum, and Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan’s Catastrophe, which also picked up three nominations. There were two nominations apiece for Grayson Perry’s Dream House and The Last Leg. Incidentally, you can bet your sweet cheeks that Channel 4 will be taking home the award for Best Single drama, having clocked up all three nominations in the category, for Black Mirror: White Christmas, Coalition and Cyberbully.
The full list of Channel 4 nominations is below. If you really insist on seeing the full list of nominations, including other channels, you can click here. But to be honest, you’ll already have read most of it, if you catch my drift. I’d insert a winky emoticon here if I knew how to. And if emoticons didn’t make me want to tear my own face off.

About Channel 4: Channel 4 is wicked.
About cows: It’s possible to lead a cow upstairs but not downstairs.
