Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer, saw an incredible surge in tweets thanks to an appearance from Australian boyband 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) on 8th June. Sunday Brunch received 14 times its previous highest total, picking up a total of 201,394 Tweets.
This is Channel 4’s top tweeted single programme of 2014 so far, and the third most Tweeted show Second Sync has on record for the channel, behind documentary Crazy About One Direction and Stand Up To Cancer. The hashtag #Ask5SOSSB racked up over 78,000 Tweets whilst also trending worldwide.

The hashtag #Ask5SOSSB racked up over 78,000 Tweets and trending worldwide. The peak moment of the programme saw 7,466 Tweets Per Minute, when the band tweeted about being on the show. The integration of Instagram to the show’s 5SOS Q&A resulted in a big bump to the followers, with a 41% leap on that platform.
