Time Crashers celebrity casting announcement

Category: News Release

•       Ten celebrities will ‘crash’ through time and live and work as ordinary people in six different eras of history

•       Sir Tony Robinson, Britain’s foremost face of popular history, to present the six-part series

Ten celebrities are about to leave their 21stcentury lives and everything they know behind to become time travellers in Channel 4’s brand new entertainment series; Time Crashers.

Our ten intrepid travellers will crash into six very different eras of British history and have no idea where – or when – they’re going. They will spend a day immersed in each era, living, working, dressing and eating as the ‘lower’ classes did whilst attempting to follow orders and fulfil a task set by their superiors. Will they be able to survive history and will they be able to leave their smartphones behind?

Time Crashers which will be hosted by history aficionado Sir Tony Robinson with expert opinion from social historian and archaeologist Dr Cassie Newland, features five men and five women, all of whom have an interest in British history – and who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty…

The female adventurers aiming to make history include Golden Globe and Emmy award winning actress Kirstie Alley, TV presenter and novelist Fern Britton, BBC Breakfast anchor Louise Minchin, Commonwealth gold medal winning Weightlifter Zoe Smith and interior designer and socialite Meg Mathews.

The time travelling male line-up includes actor Keith Allen, Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford, former Coronation Street actor and writer Charlie Condou, Premiership footballer turned pundit Jermaine Jenas and comedian Chris Ramsey.

In order to ensure the authenticity and detail of the historical detail, Channel 4’s entertainment team worked hand in hand with the factual commissioning department to deliver the immersive and hugely ambitious series.

Time Crashers is a co-production between Wall To Wall Media (a Warner Bros. Television Production UK Ltd company) and GroupM Entertainment for Channel 4. It is executive produced by Leanne Klein, Nicholas Steinberg and Cate Hall for Wall to Wall and Martin Oxley for GME. Time Crashers was commissioned by Madeleine Knight, Entertainment Commissioner at Channel 4 and Justin Gorman, Head of Entertainment at Channel 4 in conjunction with Sara Ramsden, Commissioning Editor for Specialist Factual.
