E4’s brand new US drama, The Tomorrow People, has become the channel’s biggest launch for an acquisition in overnight ratings.

The Tomorrow People premiered last night on E4 at 9pm and averaged 1.4m viewers and a 5.7% share of audience between 9 and 10pm. This is up +198% for volume compared to the slot and up +186% for share.

E4’s share of 16-34 year olds was 10.3%, up +152% for volume and up +141% for share compared with the slot average and E4 was the strongest performing digital programme for 16-34s in the time slot.

Based on the British TV series of the same name from the 1970s, The Tomorrow People follows the adventures of a generation of humans born with paranormal abilities who stand at the crossroads between the world we know and the shifting world of the future. Starring Robbie Amell (1600 Penn, Revenge), Luke Mitchell (Neighbours, Home and Away), Peyton List (Mad Men, FlashForward), Aaron Yoo (21, Disturbia), Madeleine Mantock (Casualty, Edge of Tomorrow) and Mark Pellegrino (Lost, Supernatural, Revolution) the series continues on E4 at 9pm on Wednesdays.
