TRIPPED is a brand new comedy – drama set in parallel universes.

Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) stars as Danny, an average 24-year-old who has been friends with stoner Milo (George Webster) since they were kids. But then Danny decides it’s time to grow up, settle down and marry long-term girlfriend Kate (played by BAFTA winner Georgina Campbell), whereas Milo continues to focus on getting high.

One night Milo takes a particularly strong batch of hallucinogens, and Danny appears in his living room - except the real Danny’s at his engagement party, and the real Danny doesn’t normally carry a sword! This Danny claims to come from another dimension, and he brings a warning - the only problem is that Milo’s too wrecked to remember what it is.

Throughout the series Danny and Milo find themselves tripping to various parallel universes where they encounter different versions of themselves, all the time being chased by a dangerous assassin (Richard Gadd). Will Danny and Milo’s friendship survive their adventure in the multiverse, and will Danny manage to return to his reality and get married to his original Kate?

Tripped was commissioned following an original pilot by Jamie Mathieson (Doctor Who). The 4x45 minute series is written and co-created by Harry and Jack Williams (The Missing), with Jamie Mathieson a co-creator and co-writer of episode one.

The series is commissioned by Piers Wenger, Head of Drama and Beth Willis, Deputy Head of Drama at Channel 4 and is made by Mammoth Screen, whose current productions include Poldark (BBC), Endeavour (ITV), and Agatha Raisin (Sky 1).

Episode 1 synopsis

Brand new series: Four-part comedy-drama set in parallel universes. Milo Edwards (George Webster) is horrified to discover at his best friend Danny Gates’ (Blake Harrison) engagement party, that he has been overlooked as his best man. They’ve been best friends forever, but they hardly ever hang out nowadays. Milo thinks it’s all because of Danny’s fiancée Kate (Georgina Campbell), but actually Danny’s sick of Milo’s refusal to grow up. Devastated, Milo consumes a bag of magic mushrooms in the toilet and bids Danny farewell for good. He stumbles home and rolls a joint. Suddenly a man with a massive sword materialises in mid-air above his coffee table - it’s Danny, but a different Danny, in armour and with a beard. Milo thinks it’s all a big trip (this kind of thing happens to him all the time), but next thing a terrifying and very real shaven-headed assassin, Callum (Richard Gadd), appears and tries to kill them both. A wounded Danny manages to kill Callum but disappears into thin air, leaving Milo with a dead body on his bedroom floor and only the word ‘Goldenmire’ as a clue to this madness. Milo calls the real Danny for help and, while playing around with a wristband they find on Callum’s arm, they are both inadvertently thrown into a parallel world where everything seems drastically different. The only chance that either of them has of getting home is to find another wristband. If that weren’t complicated enough, it turns out that Callum is in this world too and still wants to kill them…
