Sport

Introduction

Channel 4 is committed to bringing viewers the most exciting sport from around the globe. We have been proud to be the Paralympics broadcaster since London 2012 and we are the terrestrial home of Formula 1 with highlights and live coverage of the British Grand Prix.

Paralympics Line-up

In early 2021 we showed England’s Test series against India – the first-time live Test cricket had been on free to air since Channel 4 showed England’s momentous Ashes win in 2005. For the past four years our International Rugby Union coverage has included the games of England, Scotland, Wales & Ireland. We also brought the Heineken Champions Cup back to Terrestrial TV.

We have partnered with Pay-TV operators to bring some of the biggest sporting moments of recent times to a wider audience including England’s win in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup and Emma Raducanu’s sensational triumph in the US Open.

What are we looking for?

Paralympic Event Programming

The Sports department are looking for stunt ideas to transmit in the run up to Paris 2024.  A programme that is sport focused, will create headlines and attract a broad viewership, especially 16-34 year olds.  It could also be cross platform, with build-up on our digital channels, or purely linear based.   We will consider all options.

Perhaps we bring our Paralympians together for a huge event focused around a meaningful act, one of our stalwart C4 brands delves deep into the Paralympic world of Sport, or we go harder and try to break a world record.  We want it to be impressive, epic and appointment to view.

Please send top line ideas to Antonia (ahoward-taylor@channel4.co.uk).  Feel free to also contact with any questions.

Sports Rights

We are willing to take creative risks and give opportunities to newer, untried sports. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We are the founding broadcast partner of the all-female racing championship W Series and brought World Chase Tag to TV for the first time. If you have a new or existing sport you think we should cover then we’d love to hear from you. We’re always on the look-out for properties that can deliver blockbuster audiences for Channel 4 or sports we can help to grow utilising Channel 4’s digital platforms.

Documentaries

But it doesn’t just have to be the sport itself – we’re also interested in ideas for 60 minute sport documentaries. We look for unique access, a big-name hook and ideas that have the potential to make a lot of noise beyond sport, tackling areas such as politics and social justice.

To make sure we are inclusive and accessible to all, please let us know if you require any adjustments or assistance for meetings and communications with you.
