TalkBack screen reader gives you spoken feedback and notifications. Each manufacturer may have different shortcuts when enabling TalkBack for visually impaired users. Also, on newer Samsung devices this may be known as Voice Assistant. We test new features and functionality with Talkback to ensure compatibility.
We recommend checking on the phone manufacturer's web pages for specific instructions, as this may vary depending on manufacturer type and version.
Turn on TalkBack in your device Settings:
The steps below require sighted assistance in order to enable TalkBack within your Android device.Open your device's Settings app. Open Accessibility, then TalkBack. Turn on TalkBack. In the confirmation dialog, tap OK.
You can also enable TalkBack when you turn on your Android device for the very first time. Again, you can check with your phone manufacturer on how to do this. On many devices you can also enable TalkBack by holding down the two volume controls. -
On iOS and Android, content can be watched with Subtitles where a speech bubble icon is displayed.
Most of the content on the C4 Streaming iOS app has the subtitles feature, including on demand and live content.
Programmes can be filtered by a ‘Subtitled’ option within the Search function and within each programme category.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer subtitles if you are casting using Chromecast, but we are looking into this.

We encourage these users to upgrade their version of Android in order to get the best possible experience.

The app does not currently offer alternate colour schemes, contrast levels or fonts. However, System inverted colours via the iOS device settings area are supported.
On Android, compatibility with colour inversion may depend on your OS version and manufacturer. These can be checked within your device settings.

On iOS we have implemented single pointer interactions across the app as an alternative to path based gestures. Tapping on headers will expand a page that can be scrolled vertically in order to view all content. On Android this has been implemented on the app homepage. We are aware that some areas of the apps still rely on path based gestures and are looking into this.
